looks good but theres another £100 of vat taking it to near £700,you would think they could make them a bit cheaper than that,would probably sell loads if they were cheaper

Should be no big deal to fabricate one.

Two stainless steel straps and a wedge made outta whatever that plastic is they use for the wear pads on a telescopic handler.

A bottle jack on its side will work, as long as the pump unit is mounted vertical, may therefore require a sep pump unit then.

DEF NOT £850 Euro's worth! of fabrication.

Or simply fabricate a projecting base plate (and use "Hardox" btw) to slot into the saw cut and sit out for the base of the jack to engage with.

Plus a "periscope" to hook over the top of the jack and reach back down to the base level, and a Hardox plate to progect into the saw cut back to back and just on top of the base plate.

So the body of the jack is kept outside the tree.

Simples.
