If your a firewood producer and not concerned about this I think you should be.

Just go into the Certainly wood website and type in your post code for local stockist to your area. You may be surprised I certainly was.

You may notice that a lot of their suppliers are Hetas registered installers and guess which company is the first to have Hetas approved logs for sale.

I am in the fortunate position to sell wood pellets to an industrial oven manufacturer. Why is this relevant you may ask, because the warranty on his equipment is only valid with the certified wood pellets which he supplies. So buy third party wood pellets and you invalidate your warranty.

Now apply the same logic to your new Hetas installed stove. If the manufacturers of the stoves stipulate only Hetas approved fuel then CW already have the advantage being the supplier to the Hetas installer and if your fuel is not Hetas approved then your fighting for a diminishing market competing with old Harry down the road

Its alright at the moment as CW prices are still high but once they have the distribution network set up prices could tumble. Similar to supermarket versus corner shop.

Old harry packed up last year when cord got expensive because he was charging £60 a metre and had no money to re invest. 2cu metres for £300 I think certainly wood have a fair way to go yet. This the second post this week something tells me they are getting free adverts on here do they advertise in the arb directory ? or just get employees to put posts up.

Steady on, oh wise one. I started the other thread because I think their set up looks impressive. I dont even live on the same Island as them, let alone work for them.

they also use plastic packing on there log bags,,very green,,,NOT! they supply all my local, stores so fair play for good marketing, but as I`m local and have a good market,so untill I can offer the same at a cheaper price,,let them crack on,,,,my customers are loyal,,and get good dry logs with out extra carbon footprint of kiln drying first...

Typed my postcode in and quite a few suppliers and none of them hold any stock! we have quite a few customers that can only be reached with a 4x4. Cw,s courier network is going to struggle up in Weardale and then there,s winter and snow!

i checked think it was 12+ but no stock ?? whats that all about ,or just stocking to order ??

Checked my locals out. The local timber yard, makes gates and shds etc to order and the guy that fitted my mother in laws stove. He left a bag of their logs, I took more than a little interest in the packaging & product. Nice dry syc logs, force dried with their own wood waste. Handy if you want to buy your logs by the carrier bag full!

I also know that he's asked me to supply him last year, but we agreed to go our seperate ways due to the pressures of business we where / are both under.

It suits him but I doubt that I'll lose any business to him, even though he's less than 5 miles from me. The people I deal with buy, buy the load (now being educated to buy by volume to enable better comparison) and once they've had good service they prefer to stick with the devil they know.
