I disagree, I do work for 3 schools in my area and all of them look after there own budgets and choose who does the work. Don't know if that's just in my area or not??

Works the same way with me, as I do the little work required at my kids school. Saves the money for trips, kit etc and I get some cordwood for my troubles.

Same here in Norfolk, although you have to be on the county councils contractor list. Although not all schools have that freedom. A large portion of schools have the grounds managed by a large firm called Norse who have a sub contract company who do the tree work for them.

I've done loads of work for different schools, and am not council approved.

Usually teachers or governors I know have asked me to go and price. None of it has ever come for wallcharts or calendars, but they do ring me every year, bless them!
