What's on your bench today?

Had a Dolmar 111 on the bench today, erratic running and hard to start.

Removed carb and gave it a good clean inside and out. Gauze filter was partly blocked and the inside of the metering diaphragm cover was clogged with gunk, also found a huge amount of gunk in the tank breather.

Put it all back together and still the same erratic running so took it all apart again only to find a hole in the fuel line

Really should have checked the obvious stuff first but cleaning the rest wouldn't have hurt it at all.

Ordered the parts up, as far as I could find out it's the same as a Makita 520, hope so as that's the parts I ordered

New clutch springs on an 011 and carb clean and fitting of correct fuel pump diaphragm on a 009 - no wonder it didn't run - 'repaired' by somebody else who seemed to have squeezed in a diaphragm from a completely different carb

refitting the carb on the 009 was a painful process - old base gasket kept wandering and the throttle wire connect up made me fantasize about the chunky size of lawnmowers - there's probably a right order to re-install this carb, gaskets, lines and linkages.

This trx 350 will be next to my bench for a few days next week.

Had a rebuild of engine with oversize piston and rings. Head also needed recon. And a new starter and battery.

Had some wiring to sort out aswell. Just waiting for the starter to come in post. Had to order a CBR400 starter as I couldn't find the right one other than one for 129 quid. The 400 one is only 30 quid :confused1:

Will get some more pics up as I go along although the new piston is fitted so won't be able to get pics of that.

Right chaps I just got my own compression tester but I don't know what I'm doing wrong as I can only build up 25-30 psi of pressure on my 064 I know its had problems but if the chap at the dealers said he didn't need to do comp test as he felt it had enough surely the compression cant be that low ?

Ok. Is the tester connected properly? Have you screwed it in the plug hole tight enough to get a seal. And is there an o ring on the end of the thread?

I know it sounds stupid but its worth asking IMO
