That makes me feel ill. That would be a big hefty bill for cleaning to deter future offences of that nature.

Finished it this afternoon- done the muffler too. Will split that & port it later this week.

Will attack the pot with a dremel whilst it's off. Not in a measured Spud way - more crazed tree monkey style

Hope you know about free porting as there is not much widening that can be done on either port and the lower ring runs close to the inlet port at BTDC!

Was only going to increase Exhaust port opening, open up carb inlet size, but not at pot side. I had already measured up & seen that widening would be tricky.

Not sure what I could do with the transfers, but the piston could definitely stand some tidying up.

Sounds about right, you can take the base gasket out if you clean the carbon of the piston crown and squish band. Leave the transfers as they are already flowed more than the 020. The piston can stand some work but take care with port openings with the roof of the inlet port being left.

 

Make sure all port edges are bevelled, the MS200 is soft on the rings but even so.....!

Here's sumfin interesting. I had these parts off the 281 recently and noticed they seemed rather heavy. It's the front AV mount(AKA 7th AV mount) and the outer felling dog. So, I weighed them. The later 288 Lite version deletes these features as well as the high top stateside. I see why. They aren't needed, and they are heavy.
