I use both ends of my rope, and access the tree on a prussic, then my main TIP gets friction saver and VT. I just prefer the prussic to climb on and the VT in the crown.

TIP? VT? If I appear stupid forgive me, i know things have moved and i want to get up with the latest aids to help me as i get older but these letters mean nothing. Prussic and Blakes are basically the same, I use a wire core flip line with a device that one presses together to release as a back up/ringing down aid. Anyone out there can simplify this?

OK a vt is a friction knot like a prussic/blakes hitch?

I actually have a red pulley thing in the shed, but use it for friction free lowering (doh!)

Thanks

Thanks.

Shiny stuff rules, reduced friction in the system not only means saved energy and less damage to your joins (there was some research into climbing technique by hse a few years ago Pablo Bava cant spell the rest of his name). Once you go past the prussik you can have some propper fun bounding around the canopy. Which is mainly due to the tending ability with a micro pulley of jack system. Granted some people love the prussik im not one of them i love my spiderjack and my Valdotain for removals.
