Guys, get a grip, they got the job done in 5 minutes with a small axe and a bit of three strand nylon rope.

To compare you would need to put a fire out with a bucket and a domestic water feed, or maybe extract some poor bugger from a mangled car with a tin opener.

I do my own plumbing and electrical at home but friends in those trades don’t take the piss out of me. Why is it that some people in this industry are so precious about who they believe can and can’t touch trees?

It is after all only a tree.

If your home were on fire I bet you would do what you could to put it out or rescue your family. I know I would

Me too!!!

I've just built a large above ground pool, it holds around 55000L of water and has a powerful pump, I'm thinking of getting a large bore hose that I could quickly fit to the pump.

I reckon that could have a fire out before the FB have even got their boots on.

Totally agree!!!!!!!!!!!!

People are always taking about fixing their own saws, chippers, trucks, etc.

But moan like hell when tree owners do their own trees.

Sounds like a plan to me, assuming you were at home when it happened, and that you didn’t choke on the fumes when you went in to the house to get at the fire
