as has been said, go down the legal route, if that fails, all the timber and chip on the drive way and leave it at that. im sure they will pay you soon enough. Hope you manage to get the money out of them. Its really not on.

why on earth do you have to justify the price after the work is agreed

personally i feel the boot is starting to get on the other foot

we are soooo busy

I have started to treat awkward customers with the distain they deserve

eat my shorts

nice customers get the best price

Probably not the right thread to put this in, but i got knocked for 21k in the spring, i did all the drainage on 15 new build houses, paid for all materials and labour and the main contractor wen't bust on me, so i know how hard this can hit a one man band. Let me add i had worked for this company on many jobs, so expected all to be ok.

OK, take a deap breath count to 100, the womans on her own by the sounds of it , dont take a hostile aproach , finnish the job these are quete times, just arange to discuss it with her partner when he gets back, its difficult to fully understand a clients sucumstances, but he could be in the forces or what ever, anyway a relaxed calm aproch will do you much better. my advice for the future always provide a detailed spec of what you will do and what you wont. during these times this last year i have spent most of my time networking, bonding, going out of my way to devellop the good will of my company and yes some times doing work in sertain situations for free to streanthen the reputation of my company, as a result, i often dont even have to qote and through this resesion i havent dropped my prices. a good faver and politness goes a verry long way.
