Unimogs rock thread

It sits down a bit on the rear but it's not excessive. Also it's a little bit tail happy if you go round corners too quick, but again it's not problematic.

The unimog chassis is VERY capable and over engineered as are the springs and running gear. We get 3 times the amount of chip that our high sided tranny carries. We wouldn't be without it.

One of the many good things about mogs is that you can improve and develop them as you go rather than see them decay and depreciate like other trucks.

keep an eye out for rust on the cab, espacailly if it has that thick rubberized underseal on it as it can rot away inside and look fine.

If you have a member of staff who can drive then shuttle timber and sweepings in that .

Use the Mog as a chipper and lifter.

Or dumpy bag everything and go around on the weekend with big ifor and collect stuff, the time and energy saved not hand balling logs and bucket loads of sawdust means you can use the staff to do the high profit side of the job and then at the weekend you go a jolly, collect stuff, price stuff and be seen.

Start selling timber as lumps in ton bags, no point using dismantling time faffing about tidying when you don't need to.

As long as the jobs neat and contained the customer will be happy

Amen !!!!

That's right.. We've had a fair bit of welding and fabrication done on the cab. The state of the cab when we got it was one of the reasons it was a bargain really. The chassis and engine were sweet and apart from a clutch kit and tyres we haven't had to fork out too much.

floor in the square cabs is a common problem, aso along the cab back seam, bottoms of the b pillars and the base of the bulkhead where it meets the floor, these areas fill up with muck and rust out, genuine panels are available from merc, but are pricey, a bit of tin bashing and repairs are easy

So I'll just pop the final pre chip box build here.

By the end of January she should be completed fully and working. So I'll post more then.

I went with broomhilda as a name and I don't know why. ImageUploadedByArbtalk1450605836.501125.jpg.940778c03f2b228d0810675448df8817.jpg

Going to replace all the anti roll bushes as the others are looking tired. Rear hub seal to change as it's got a slight weep. Speedometer decided to pack up so that needs some investigation or replacing. Moving the smoke stack to drivers side and adding a large custom fuel tank passengers side.
