An Extra Public Holiday?

Gareth; just to make you even happier - if Liz makes it through to 2012, there will be an extra public holiday in the summer for the jubilee as well!

It's even shorter than you think - for some strange reason in Northern Ireland we always take Easter Monday and Tuesday off and not Good Friday(I know my mother in law is English and she can never understand this one). So that means we are off Monday Tuesday for easter, at work for the Wednesday and Thursday and off again on the Friday. A two day week!!!!

 

That will be a fun week trying to cover weekly maintenance cycle committments during the growing season

I think every bank holiday "can" come out of annual holidays, its up the the employer.

 

Sad, but true. I used to work for a large multinational Arb firm that practised this. Don't know if they still do, but we used to get 3 weeks annual leave & 8 Bank Holiday days.

 

This always used to bug me at the time, but when I look back, the whole time I worked for them I don't think I ever took my full annual entitlement anyway. Not sure if this means I'm a workaholice; mad; sad or just plain stoopid.

If non of your guys are interested in royalty then ask them kindly to decline the holiday.

 

I dont agree with teh royals, but to my benefit i have a part time job where i shall be asking to work specifically on this day.... government funded building, double-bubble, Cheers boys

It's a celebration.

 

It's the type of thing that makes the rest of the world jealous.

 

I will be doing special 'Royal Wedding' rates for tree services for a couple of weeks either side of the big event. Probably about 50% more than usual so we can party, but I will give out a small paper Union Jack to every customer.

To true .... when I had my company (retail) I used to give statutery holiday pay in the first year of employment and then statutery plus Bank holidays thereon .... nothing worse than paying a new employee a Bank holiday then they leave. The government dont seem to realise the burden they put on business with paternity, maternity, sick, training leave etc etc
