Best rope?

Your wieght is an important factor to consider when picking a rope and to a lesser degree your experience. Heavier climbers are normally better off with a larger diameter rope, as are newbie climbers.

Earlier this year i tried the 11.5mm taychon, really liked the thinner rope for speed and just how it ran in the vt, but was too hard on my hands clasping the thinner rope, when i was used to 13mm, so decided to go from the 13mm yale fire(?) to the slightly smaller diameter Imori (which is a great rope, nice feel, works well with the vt) and have now brought a 50m Tachyon

 

I think you need to say what diameter rope you're looking for . . .

imori is a nice all rounder but have found it makes hitch's grip to much, also the fibers seem to snag and soak water although it seems to handle been wet and covered in slime far better than any other rope i have used in a while, but It does not handle like tachyon that imo is by far the best ropes I have brought in a while,I have found I can tune my vt to be consistant and self tend and is nice to use untill covered in rain ,ice and tree slime !!then becomes not to pleasant to handle....new england fly is a nice comprimise between the two but since buying a new hank of it in the summer to replace an old fly rope i think i have not climbed on it once!

Tachyon works best for me.

 

Imori as has been said soaks up too much moisture and thus deforms badly when Frozen.Won't get another one.

Tachyon, works great in lockjack, can be a bit of a bitch to grip in the cold tho, but wearing gloves i guess effectively increases the diameter of whatever you're gripping.
