My Day

Today when I turned up to the 'days job', we weren't to know the the husband was on his death bed (quite litererly). We were told by his wife that he was poorly and there would be comings and goings of nurses:biggrin: (they were good looking as well) and other people. We didn't think much of it at the time and got on with the job in hand.

As the day progressed things were not looking good for the old man, his wife at one point came out and told us that "every time he closes his eyes I think thats it". We were feeling uncomfortable at this point and made the decision that we were nearly finished and we should just tidy up and get out of there.

You are probably wondering why I am telling you this, but a while ago I read a book and one of the themes was about a white feather falling in front of you. The white feather was meant to come from an angel and it was to signify death. Well a white feather floated down in front of the truck when we were having lunch. Is this too much of a coincedence, the old man is dying in the house and the story from the book? I don't ususaly believe in this kind of 'super natrual' happenings, but this was too freaky!

I am unaware if the old man has passed away as I write this, he probably has, but I don't really want to be in that situation again. My boss had no idea and I suppose we could have politely refused to do the job but at the same time I would like to think we were a distraction and a noisey one at that.

Not sure about the superstition bit but I had a similar experience years ago on the embarrassment / not knowing where to put your face side.

Nice guy whose garden I helped look after, me and my mate turned up one summer evening to do a bit of work and found the owner having a bonfire at the end of the garden.

Not thinking too much about it we got on, until bumped into the owner walking out of the house carrying an armful of clothes. Turned out his wife had died that day (in her mid 40s) and he was doing some clearing out, presumably as some kind of catharsis.

He was a really good guy to work for and I still replay in my mind the grief he must have been going through and wish I could have done / said something different than the stunned silence and mumbled words I did come up with.

Not too long ago we were doing a job for a member of the public whos land borders our and we were removing some trees that were overhanging his garden and one that was quite literally leaning against his shed. Whilst we were there we heard sirens very close by. It was a fast/first response car. About 10 mins later an ambulance turned up and then much to our surprise the Air Ambulance was hovering over and soon landed within 30 metres of our work trucks. We didnt realise it but the poor old boy had been pruning his Apple and Cherry Trees out on his front lawn and had fallen out of the trees which were only about 8 ft high. He landed on some of his prunings and had skewered himself. He sadly passed away two days later as one of the stems had snicked his femural artiery and caused an embolism which burst. We had white doves flying around for the week after. And they even nested in his Dove cote on the side of his house.

About 3 years ago we were working at the bottom of a large garden in an old victorian country house, winter time. As we sat having lunch a native american indian walked right through the middle of our campsite and disappeared, we all saw him and just put it down to the fact that he'd walked through somekind of portal from another place and time. You can't dwell on these things, its good to have a little mystery in the world.

thats strange mate.

I had a weird one last year as well.

were contracted in to fell trees in old church. All trees were marked and pointed out. One of the trees we were to fell was a very old yew tree...we didn't understand why it was to be felled and tried calling boss to discuss ( no answer ).

Anyways it was a clear sunny day until we felled it and straight away a large storm cloud moved in with lightning /thunder that was so bad we had to jump in van. We decided to cut it back from path and head home...as we were discing it up we noticed that there was a demon shaped face in the wood running most the way up the stem.

Sounds crazy..but the guys were so freaked out that we packed up and left the tree as it was.

lesson learnt - never cut yew trees down in churches.

Very strange day.

re: the OP - I'd like to think that things like that are linked, whether good or bad. This is a bit more morbid, but my girlfriend's auntie woke up a few years back, opened her curtains and saw a solitary Magpie (one for sorrow). Later that day the family received the results of my girlfriend's grandma's test results. She had a brain tumor.

and re: this post - :scared1:

When my dad was an apprentice joiner, his Auntie came round to his mums one day in a state. She said she'd had a dream where Frank (my dad) was covered in blood.

Later that day my dad arrived home early covered in blood, he had planed the tips off the fingers of his left hand, the planer blade had thrown the blood over him
