Great shots Tommer.

Do you know if the immediate land around the Tree is managed?

Appears from the photo's to be very bare.

Lightning, Mmmmmmmm

.

Yes it is managed, and I think about 18 months to 2 tears ago if my memory serves. It is in the middle of a tiny parcel of woodland on the edge of town. It has some very large trees in there- having said numerous times at capel that there werent any in cornwall!! The woodland was part of a large estate, and was planted with, so the sign says, many native and exotic/ rare trees, although i didnt have time to really look, just wanted an easy one for me and the boy to play around in! I was approached about two years ago by a landscaper/ woodland manager guy regarding regenerating the wood for the locals to use, but heard no more about it. Sunday is the first time i have been in there, and there has been extensive clearing work carried out on the understory, and removal of several trees is apparent, but the finished result is well on te way to looking fabulous in about another 12 months, if not by the end of this summer. There are established paths, a "childrens discovery area", wildlife related i reckon, and some really good scainsaw carvings, alll relating to woodland flora and fauna.

The reason i suggested lighning strike was because of the burnt out inside of that beech olly was standing in, but actually i am more inclined to think that it was a fire after the presumably dead tree was topped, being already hollow, either deliberately or by mischief.

Thesis over.........:001_smile:

plane reduction from today, previously topped. havnt worked on a plane for ages and had forgotten how much the hairs get your nose going. first proper climb on my new tachyon and love it. ps dont you hate it when people leave cars under trees and go to work, especially when the housing agency has sent letters to all residents informing them of the work
