Large Oak removal

Oak tree removal yesterday. It is often said that crane work is easy.....well, this was actually quite a tough job. I didn’t leave the site until near 7pm and was done-in.

 

Apart from shedding a couple of large limbs more recently this was a perfectly healthy and grand specimen....but there was clearly something wrong with the owners who found it intolerable, and wouldn’t be convinced otherwise. So that was that. Here a bunch of photo’s, although there were many more lifts and too many similar photo’s to choose from. Thanks

Two questions Reg -

 

Did any of the timber go to anything but logs?

 

Do you still use the same cut straight through technique with those massive heavy lumps? Surely if you miscalculated they could turn your bar into a boomerang in seconds!

Absolutely - that wasn't missed. If the client has made up their mind to take a tree down, there is little that can be done, even if it is unjustified. You might as well be the one to do it professionally and sympathetically so best use is made of the timber.

 

Echoing Mark's question, did any of it make it to a mill?
