I don't climb so mine is in my trouser pocket, and as the ganger on site I have been known to blow it once or twice a year just to see what happens! then I thank god it wasn't for real as the numpties are still feeding the chipper!!!! Cue a good rollocking!

Used to have an Acme Thunderer on my harness, but lost it in a conny recently. Can whistle loud using my fingers, but that won't work if I have cut my hand off....

 

Useful for getting groundies attention. And if I spot anyone offside, obviously.

Got an old police whistle somewhere, used to have it for controlling beaters and guns during my grouse keepering days, mind I can shout loud enough to make people hear at a good range never thought about carrying one when working but I can see the point, will have to look it out

i carry 2 even though i dont climb. the world wide recognised signal for an emergency is 3 blasts on the whistle repeated till help comes. (bet you didnt know that)

I sometimes have to throw pegs a groundies to remind them to look up when entering the drop zone.

If I was injured I'd throw the saw at them.

Though they'd probably think I was pi**ed 'cos it wasn't sharp and send up another.

dropped my silky:blushing: while pruning lastweek, had nothing to throw at the groundy and couldn't shout loud enough.. he was wearing new chippermuffs with radio on underneath while feeding chipper, usually he glances up every minute or so but not that time.. wish i'd had a cuppa for the wait.. guess i could have nipped down but with last few cuts left then end of the job it was easier to wait:biggrin: maybe i need a loud whistle?
