Firewood prices

Here in South Birmingham one of the local tree surgeons is doing cubes for £25-30 mixed wood, basically because he gets it free. Business wood suppliers charge about £50 for a cube.

Your not selling the timber, you are charging for the cost and time it takes to convert it.

People buy tanks of oxygen, buts it all around us.

the cheapest price is not always the best ive had a lot of cowboys setting up near to me and lost some customers for a short time however the majority have returned this year and one of my customers showed me the wood he was getting it was that poor quality he wouldnt take it in the house it was covered in mud you could push your finger through it and probably wring it out like a sponge i was concerned for a while that i might have to drop my prices or stop completely however as it cost this customer 5 quid of diesel to burn it in his fire pit im reasured that im doing the right thing

There's a guy round us doing the builders dumpies (0.76) @ £25 each delivered - all hardwood and all reasonably seasoned. All the time he's doing that there's no point bothering.

The Estate I used to work on have just hgot an agent involved in running the woods department and their logs have now trebled in price but still only work out around £75 for a level hilux load delivered, but the quality is often dubious.

Round us a lot of people still seem to want it cheap and will burn owt - I used to leave them to it and concentrate on the ones that appreciated a decent log and would pay for it.

people who are getting log burners etc installed wont appreciate a good dry hardwood log intill they try burning one..

they are the ones left cursing the fire/smoke and coldness:001_rolleyes:

but the good customers will know where to go and what to burn...

just takes a little time for people to get the just of there fires/burners
