I'm just interested to know what the rest of you climb with?

At college i was taught to climb with two climbing lines. I.e. one main one and another shorter line (5m) both coming off my centre D on my harness and only using the side D's with a strop while on pole.

But now i find myself climbing on one main climbing line coming off my centre D and a 5m strop with either end connect on side D's on all my climbs.

Most of the people i work with also climb like this.

Anyone use two climbing lines?

Mike

depends on the tree,,, i have two shorter lines, a 27 and an 18,, use them for most,, also have a flipping line on the side d rings that i actually find very useful

once in a blue moon i use the 45 with hitchclimber and a 5m strop..

A flip line and spikes on everything.:thumbup1:

Failing that, main line and a short side strop, not sure how long but maybe only 2 meters.

Actually no i dont think its even 2 meters long.

50m tachyon with hitchclimber setup vt and a shorter 25m set up with same config. try to keep everything the same so no confusion ever sets in. 3.5m lanyard witha cinch, normally off the side d's but sometimes i run it off the centre and use it as a single line.

2m side strop on my d's and a 50 foot rope on my centre most of the time. But if it is big open canopy i may use 2 ropes, hitch climber, spiderjack. what ever i think is best tbh for the situation, i can read it from the ground:001_smile: sometimes:laugh1:

3m lanyard with a distel and micro pulley off side D's occaisionally off the centre depending on position. 37m XTC climbing line with hitchclimber set up.

in big open canopies i use both ends of my rope, works a treat on large branchwalks, no fighting that swing.

usually just a main line with a side strop, vt on the side, need to shorten it actually, and im going between a VT or knut and a blakes for my climbing, i think im gonna settle on the vt or knut, although the blakes is reliable, the other two are easier.

Two ends of a climbing line (37 or 45m depending on tree size) with prussiks. I have a 5m split tail running through a distel and micro pulley for positioning out on the ends of branches etc, and a VT set up that hasnt been out of the bag for months and months.
