Either diahatsu or suzuki, would be my choice, what about an old freelander, good deals to be had.

fourtracks have about 2inch of suspension travel at the rear, and no springs at the front. this confuses me.. if you do get one then get big soft tyres to undulate with the bumps! having said that i know one near dumfries for sale if you are interested, but it did get stuck in soft sand haha when the landy on road slicks had no probs at all. (get a disco 200/300 they are both good)

suzuki vitara van 1.9tdi go for about 1000. The parts are cheap advise is pleantifull. I have a 1.6 8v petrol and its been great. parts are cheap new. really easy to change any part i can even send you a copy of the service manual. I really really can't recomend these cars enough. any questions on them and I would be happy to help!

 

Just so you get an idea ones like this are quite common

I'm pretty sure that's just a shell, the engine and running gear are now living in a series landrover.......

I got a P reg Maverick with the 2.7 TDi engine earlier this year for £1290 and even a mate who has a 300Tdi Disco was impressed with its towing. Not bad on economy and you can even run it on SVO in the summer
