After my CS 30/31 I received a LANTRA certificate of competence, but had to book and undergo a separate assessment to become NPTC qualified.

Not sure about the LANTRA thing with the rest of my NPTC certs, sorry.

Mind you, that was a while ago.

I believe dinosaurs still walked the Earth, and Stephen Blair was only just learning to type....:001_tt2:

Yeah , yeah , yeah. But is it too easy to pass. I think so. I think the assessors are on pay role depending on number of passes. Commission based. Haha.

But if your wanting to get into training (I had not realize you were a Gaylord)

that a good thing, you'll make more :001_smile:

if it wasnt so dangerous i'd agree, but i really doubt an assessor would let a dodgy pass through (apart from me that is)

the assessment was actually quite hard, TBH i think that the way it's set up is more inclined towards people working for companies that wouldn't let them climb until they'd got more experience,

or does everyone just go and set up on their own...

That is exactly my point. The current system seems gears towards almost appretiship type employment. Whereby the tickets are the provisional and the employer will follow the training on. Yet the current system allows people to do a minimal amount of training and go it alone.

ohh ok frank, i see where you're coming from now.. and i completely agree with you..

BUT, can't see too many doing it as the financial investment needed to walk out and go it alone is not small, especially if you want to be professional.

there is also the fear factor....talking first hand here..

But if it was harder and more expensive, they would just not bother with training and go it alone any way.
