The fracture was untouched, it just doesnt show up in the darker photo. Nearly all of the mature Beech on the site have Ganoderma on them. Its on private land with low use so no further investigation has been done.

I thought I would put this post here as well as general tree pictures.

 

Contract climbing today, Beech reduction for Mr Neville Faye, pouring with rain all day which made it pretty slippy, tree has been reduced before to encourage new growth throughout the crown and it's working despite the tree suffering from Meripilus and something else that I can't recall and also having had a Picus five years ago that would probably would have condemned the tree if it had been in another location, Myself and Mike T carried out the climbing work.

I enjoyed the photos on this thread so thought I might revive it

 

Couple from today. Had about 3m off the larger Oak and thinned it alot too. Think solar panels could turn out to be a real cash cow for tree surgeons.

I did a job last year from a Mewp rj'ing an 80 odd foot ash. Home owner had installed solar panel on the pumphouse roof (under a large portion of the tree) to heat their outdoor pool. All cut and chuck from a 34 m bronto.

 

Solar panels rock except when your working over them and they would cost a bloody lot to replace repair. Job went smooth though.

 

Gibbon, had they installed them already or were you pruning the trees so they'll get more light once installed?

The solar panels are already on the roof. It was one of those jobs where they want the tree cut in half but you just have to talk them out of it.
