i used to live hang chickens, between 4 or 5 of us we did upto 52000 in about 9 hours, bad bit was they were alive and flapped about and could poop quite a distance, in fact in it could reach your mouth and eyes. i lost count of the amount of times i had poop in my mouth. i would clean up afterwards with a pressure washer and would get covered in a mist of feathers and plop. it would stink too especialy on those hot days.

i also did a stint in an slaughter house pushing half dead cows into a freezer still twitching was a bit wierd.

the blood pit would turn into a jelly and you could walk about in it cutting it with your wellies. also dipping the head of cows and sheep in dyed water and picking the cows heads out by there eye socket.

live hanging the chickens was the worst but it was good money.

Back in the 80's, work was in short supply, so I did 3 months in a dog food factory. All the animal waste from slaughterhouses would come in skips, was tipped on the floor and had to be shovelled into the giant mincer machines. Wellies would rot through in a week, the goo would get into your skin forming pustules. 2 showers would not get the smell off you. Rats running everywhere, cleaning the drains of pigs testicles was a highlight:001_rolleyes: It was the most disgusting, soul destroying job I ever had the pleasure of doing, and H&S simply did not exist there.

After working for a high street bank for twenty three years, I can confirm that after spending the last fourteen months gardening for people, dry stone walling, driving diggers and doing some tree work, a bad day spent in the great outdoors is still better than a good day in the office!

Did two weeks for a shot blasting firm in Doncaster in the 80's when work was short - dust, noise lousy wages! You still had black dust around your eyes after a shower and black snot for days after. I had the job of filling the pot up with a shovel whilst the chap blasted mining equipment. Then had the job of blasting but got told of for doing too good a job! British Coal where ripped off by so many subbies it was untrue.
