Doing other types of work can be a distraction but if you or your guys have the skills then it can be a good revenue stream. Typically, tree surgeons are more expensive to do fencing and landscaping as they still have to pay for their chippers and saws and insurance. However, if the client is happy to pay why not.

started off only trees,,, then 2 customers asked "do you do hedges?" hardly going to pass the work up,,, was straight up and said i never had, but i'll have a go,,, did the first 50 metre job,,, he asked how much i wanted,, i said pay what you think it's worth...

I now do hedges, lawns and i know a guy that mills and is a stoner... (like the double entendre tom?:-)

to be honest i thought the reason tree surgeons got into fencing was to repair damage caused during tree operations..

I do both, trees are a big part but we also do landscape work, don't do drives etc but gardens and grounds maintanance. we advertise as "Tree surgeons and Landscape contractors" like Mick said doing trees and then a bit of fencing makes a nice change, its 50/50 at the moment, trees and landscape, having the mixture has kept me busy.
