Also, what is meant my by " non snag " outer clothing ?

I have the trousers, but that's all clothes wise.

You'll be fine in just a normal sweatshirt. Non snag means nothing that will get caught in the chain.

Best leave anything with tassles or the Poncho at home then:thumbup1:.

Noooo, Hiax are almost the cheapest I think and IMO very comfortable.

you need Type A trousers (front protection) and some insist you need Type C (allround protection) You will have to check as Mozza says nothing baggy realy quite simple..

Make sure you got your first aid kit and whistle.

I have Type C trousers, but no braces, tried them on and they where round me ankles in no time.o:blushing:

It might be a good idea to try the boots on before you decide on which ones are best for you. We've got a good range of chainsaw boots and other PPE in the showroom if you can make a trip to us from Cumbria (we're just 10 miles from Lockerbie). Be delighted to help you out :)

I got Stihl Specials made by Elten, v v comfy and waterproof if you dubin them. £99 from a place called Charlies in Shrewsbury.

Good boots, but make sure you go and try them on as I found the larger sizes a bit different from my normal footwear. Also, use Nikwax, not Dubbin, as Dubbin harms the stitching in time. :001_cool:

Evening men,

With my CS30 31 coming up in 10 days I'm trying to put together my kit, and one of the priciest items seems to be the boots, so what in your opinion are the best value, bearing in mind I will only be using them occasionally, I dont want to spend a fortune as I still need a saw.

IMO you are going well over the top worrying about what you need for these courses. Just take what they tell you to in the info. Apart from that, clothes you usually wear for work will be cool.

First day will be filing a saw all day and taking it apart and putting it back together, not much more than that. All you then have to do is cross cut a couple of logs, knock over and sned a couple of very small trees and your done.

Chill mate. It wont be the ordeal you are expecting. I personally dont know a single person who has failed any NPTC ticket. :thumbup1:
