Watch Out!!

All businesses.

Be aware that various dubious advertising companies are out there trying to blag your hard-earned money. I have received numerous calls from such "inertia sellers". They will say that you owe them for advertising space that you have not agreed to. I have been in contact with Trading Standards, Inland Revenue, and the Office of Fair Trading, who are all now investigating these companies. Have nothing to do with them. One such company is PFA Media, check out for yourselves their modus operandi at http://www.blagger.com/db4/company_id/3269/companyname/Pfa-Media-Uk.html bt there are many many other companies doing the same tricks.

Apparently these companies have been doing the rounds for many years, trying to catch the unwary, quite how and why this has not been more widely publicised I do not know.

I've had them three years in a row, ring up and say they are producing a charity calander for the fireservice and wanted me to advertise on it.

Nearly fell for it because of the word charity mentioned and fireservice.

I told them to ring me back in an hour as I was up a tree. I phone the Fireservice HQ which is just up the road and they informed me they ahd ahd numerous complaints and that it was a scam.

I was bursting with excitement at the prospect of giving this scouse a run around and I did.

Told them to send me info and my mate was interested, could they ring him and send him info.

Each time they ring, I let on I'm interested and give them as much of a run around as I can, get them to phone a friend and let your friend know they will be ringing

i had dealings with those charities, did an advert once as im a soft touch but i wont again, any money i give to charity now is this sites charity the childrens trust.

the latest thing these less reputable charities are trying is just as andy says, phoning up and making out you said you would be having an advert 8 months previously. i wonder how many people fall for that, i had to stop and think myself!

Strange that Andy, I had the calender call today!

Gave the usual bull, going to distribute 20,000 copies in our area, the would offer me exclusive advertising as the only tree contractor in the area!

Yeh, yeh!

Not had the one of them saying you already owe them for it though. Good bit of warning, cheers.
