I have tried loads of throw lines over the years . It really annoys me when they are sold as none tangle ..... and then become a birds nest overnight :confused1:

Even after carefully threading back into the bag .

Get a small stick or a bit of 2X2 and wrap it around. I've been to some dark places trying to untangle throw lines in the past but don't seem to get it anymore either. Also it's quicker than feeding it in to the bag.

Is it?

Also you'd have to lay your line out on the floor prior to throwing, which is a lot of faff, and it would inevitably get snagged on a twig once thrown.

Put a tarp down then. I'd rather unwind it every time as opposed to throwing it up and seeing a brightly coloured birds nest go whizzing up in to the canopy of an ivy ridden mess. Just how I like to do things I guess. Not saying your wrong.

Probably the best way , is buy same thick stiff throw line and use a big shot . No messing around and almost anybody can use a big shot.

Does winding it round a stick not give it a lot of memory?

I find that unless there's debris in my cube or it's been put away badly tangles are rarely an issue.

I only use it on big trees mind.

It's never been an issue memory-wise, mode you it's a bit of 2x2 it's wrapped around so it's not tight circles. To be honest I've only had a couple of experiences with bad tangles in the past and just decided to give the wrap around a try. So I have not used throw lines straight from a bag in a long time. I may give it a go again sometime.

I guess you just stick with what's worked previously.

I have a saying that is "pops and pines require throwlines" most other trees I tend to avoid getting the throw line out for as most have lower branches. Not always the case I know.
