Lathe is a Union Jubilee with three phase invertor for variable speed control.

 

That bowl is my third bowl, I've had many that have gone down the drive of their own accord when the chisel has grabbed at full speed :biggrin:

 

I'm only a beginner but have had loads of good advise off Ian Leach :thumbup1:

That wiring looks a bit dodgy what does HSE say about it Dean:lol:

 

Had a brand new motor for it David :biggrin:

 

The ash is a corker and so much better for waxing. Did you use that piece because of the contorted grain or was that a bonus? Bowls wiv oles and bits of bark left on are very trendy!

 

I keep an eye out for unusual bits of stem, this one was where a branch had been pruned off in the past and the bark had sealed up completely, there was also a bit of a hollow.

 

I want to steam clean a root ball and make a bowl from that, should be good
