My wife saw a car she fancied advertized . She phoned and the salesman said put a deposit on it which she did £400 .He then said its at our Fareham branch , we will bring it over tomorrow . Tomorrow comes , he calls her and says really sorry but before we copuld bring it over the bloke there sold it to someone else . Finance aranged . So my wife says ok , shit happens can I have my deposite back . He says sure . In the mean time my wife finds another car at a local dealers and puts a deposite on that . 3 days later the original garage phone her and say the car is now avalible as the finance was not approved . My misses says she has found another one as you said it was sold and where is my deposite . After several days of irate calls my misses goes " full Karen " on the bloke and say she and me are coming down to sort it out . He says ok , ok I will do it now and sends her £ 250 . Now she is going apeshit as it was £400 deposite . On the phone again . Eventually it gets resolved but took nearly 2 weeks from the start . Fcuking people ! .

This is the benefit from paying with a credit card.

The bank is liable to give you a full refund if it goes tits up.

I hate dealing with cacti. Very clear cut, they sold her motor that she had put a deposit down on in good faith. Why was there any quibbling. Sure yeah make the offer on the car as it is now available but any decent person would say 'i totally understand, money is on its way back.' end of.

You just don't need this sort of added stress in your life. You should still go down there, find the turd and give him a square kick in the gonads just to let him know, in no uncertain terms, that he is in fact an absolute weapons grade cod piece.

Defintely seems to me like the knob care salesman saw your wife coming

At times it baffles me how some people run businesses. Goodwill is vital when you're dealing with the public. He has now ensured that Stubby, his family and friends will not buy a car there. The correct course of action was to apologise profusely, refund the full £400 asap, and send Mrs Stubby a bunch of flowers/Box of chocolates/Bottle of prosecco or similar. That few quid gift could have rescued a £5k ( for the sake of argument )  sale.
