Looking at getting an ifor tipping trailer to tow behind my 130.

Going down this route for payload reasons compared to getting another tipper truck.

Just comparing the 12ft vs 10 ft (will be getting one with chequer sides).

Pay load wise they look similar. obviously you get more in the 12, potentially overloaded with chip if full?

Do you really need a 12? Is the 12 a nightmare to manoeuvre and tow?

bags of logs, will the 10 fit 6 bulks bags and the 12, fit 8?

Which do you guys prefer and why?

cheers,

Jimmy

I lost count the amount of times I was glad not to have a smaller trailer/the amount of jobs that produced 6.5-8m3 of chip. (The 12 holds 8m3, the 10 6m3 iirc)

you won’t get 6 or 8 bags on, loaded bags splay out/are wider than 1m, loading loaded bags of logs I found 4 was the max

you’ll over load either with heavy chip, but the 12 can be legal fully loaded

go for the 12

I run a 8x5 tipper with double sides and triple when chipping into it, and a 12x6 flat bed with sides, towed by 130. the 8x5 is nice to back into driveways but the 12 on a 130 can be a sod if road and drive not very wide. The 10 tipper has same 3500kg max so can carry more load then 12 as it unladen weight is greater. As for moving plant I move on both of mine but no storage for ramps on old 8x5. Seen big chipper and 2t digger on 10 tipper.

One best thing about 10 tipper is its width you don't need to worry about it sticking out beyond truck. I keep thinking about getting 10x5 and selling 8x5.

But if only 1 trailer would get 12 all day long.

As a 10' tipper owner, I'd probably agree with going for the 12' on balance.

But bear in mind: when you're using a land-rover to tow a 12' x 6' trailer on busy narrow lanes, the trailer will be wider than the land-rover, I think?

12 gets my vote. Have a look at neugent and Brian James - both better than the ifor imho

Agree with this. Have a 10x5 Ifor and a 14 foot Nugent. The Nugent is silent when towed, and tows really nicely. The Ifor rattles like crazy! Both are great trailers tho.
