I occasionally post a pollard on the work pics threads on the couple of US forums I frequent.

There’s often interest in the methodology, some scoffing, but generally there is no major pushback.

It was a bit different 10/15 years ago, but these days, thanks to the web, we see so much of other people’s (and countries) tree work that as an industry (hate that term) we are less parochial than we were.

I wanted to say thank you so very much to everyone who took the time to respond, and to tell me I was over reacting:) I'm so grateful, and appreciate the chance to learn what good looks like. Thank you everyone, really chuffed at the response, relieved for the lovely trees and no, I won't hire a hit man then:))

If you want to, you can go back through the years in street view and watch the trees change

Oy ! ,what's wrong with Minch 🤔

Actual tree butchery is pretty rare round here, there are a lot of trees that you have to look at long and hard to spot any evidence of any work having been done at all 🙂

Just to further assure you that everything was kosher - all the lime trees pollarded have Tree Preservation Orders on them, and all works to them have to have prior approval and consent from the Local Planning Authority. You can find the application and consent documents for the most recent works online on the Stroud Planning Portal.
