Alex, I often overload my small isc floating bollard. I use either a dyneema whoopee which will cinch up with just a big dan on until it's nipped right up or 16mm double braid deadeye with a timber hitch - again just setting it all up tight as can be. You get a bit of slop after the first few heavies but certainly not shin to chest level. Like 1ft tops

Could just be I’m not tying them well enough. Either way, I’m not buying a whoopie now. I’m using a Dempsey strap!

You know you have a strap named after you, but Bolam strap is studded black leather.....
