I'm surprised trackers are not used more. Having said that I don't have any on my kit but I'm interested in looking into it. For example Apple tags, how effective are they?

Got to hide them well, so it will take them to long to remove before taking it.

All plant  machinery manufacturers could make it harder with in built tracker in wiring system.

I don’t think any plant manufacturers do enough Paul.

They could and should do a lot more.

Maybe if they got together with apple, as the current tags will alert you to being tracked.

 

Maybe a company version with a subscription model on those off the shelf tags, you pay a fiver a month with a long legalese we'll take 10k off you for any dodgy shenanigans.

A bit like the RangeRovers being one of the easiest cars to clone the key and steal, on top of being desirable.

 

The more that are stolen the more sales / replacement units paid for by the insurance companies.

 

Hence they have no incentive to try and reduce the levels of theft.

I think individuals could take responsibility to have trackers fitted to their own machines.

Have you got trackers installed Mick? Just on big kit, or down to little saws too?

 

It's probably the sort of thing that some people have to be bitten by before they take action... get it all nicked first, then invest in a countermeasure. Like dashcams...
