Protos and ear defenders

I have a Protos helmet and the original ear defenders are not too great, perhaps due to their compact size. I know there are upgrades to 3M Peltor ear defenders, does anyone know which models fit?

 

From looking at the 3M ones I believe the X1-X5 are supposed to be the best protection for there size? With X5 being very large.

 

Amazon has Peltor 3 and some others cheap at the moment. I might get some X5's or 3's for when I'm feeding the chipper.

 

If I were starting again, I wouldnt waste the money on Protos, I didnt realise how much bigger it is.

Absolutely love the X5, don't think I'll ever go back to normal dB ear defenders.

 

It's not blissful world of your quiet own, but bloody close.

we changed to the Stihl procom units. better noise protection plus coms units etc. expensive but well worth the money if your running any big machines

The X3 and X4 fit well, just need the different brackets

No idea what 3m’s I have just I bought a compatible bracket and the protos is nice to use now.

 

Previously, before the mod, I would always have ear and head ache after a few hours.

They're a squeeze if you want to tuck the defenders back so don't; just get used to clicking them in and out

I've been thinking about upgrading my ear defenders on my Protos helmet too.  Peltor X4 or X5 make sense but what's the deal with changing the brackets? Where do you get the different brackets from?

I shall not be paying that.

 

Saw and bought these X5A's reduced to £31. I shall wear them for chipping. I might adapt the original protos bracket to fit them, as I'm never going to want the originals again once its done.
