Husky are the same now. Jon go to Harlands, yes there a bit more expensive the the service is spot on and like Frank says easy to go back if you have a problem.

My mate tried to get a crown wheel for the cutter head on a pole hedger and Harlands said they couldn't sell it and tried to flog him a complete head.

He just took it off an old one we had in the end, as Pickles at Otley were as awkward about it, tried to tell him it couldn't be repaired.

Its all to do with customer service,Stihl are very proud of their products and their service, buy from your local dealer, they can give you the personal touch, advice / after sales service etc etc. Get to know your local dealer and spend some money and you should usualy get good prices too.

Yeah right!! Its so that the dealer franchise is worth something. Without that in place one dealer would sell to the whole country for 1% and the network becomes useless and the value of products downgraded. By banning postage sales they can keep the sale prices up and the percieved value of the product remains high.

No one dealer would dominate the market. They would be in the same boat as the rest of us and have to compete for customers. The products they sold would be priced by the free market not fixed between themselves.
