Joking aside, it was the fuse!

Thank you very much Duncan!

As said, a bit of a fiddle to get to, but swapped it out (you could see it was blown), and the machine fired up straight away.

@Jase hutch, thanks very much for the photos, made my life a lot easier.

I’ll warm the machine up for a couple of minutes tomorrow, then do the oil service.

Can’t see anything obviously shorting that caused the fuse to blow, so if it happens again I’ll have to look further.

Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Arbtalk really is a powerful resource.

Brilliant! Glad I could help! I think it's a bit of karma about 10 years ago I had a 125 and it used to cut out randomly but then would work fine and then cut out again right when you wanted to get the job finished led to me punching it several times. Timberwolf tried to help over the phone to diagnose it but couldn't find the problem took to a mechanic still no luck. It honestly went on for 6 months or more then a chap on here sent me a pm and said to check the fuel line as the originals could perish and create create an air lock of sorts. Sure enough out of sight it had perished and was leaking the smallest amount but that was enough. New fuel line and never had an issue gotta love this site.

Buy some spare fuses, keep them in  the van else it's sure to go again in the middle of a job.

Or, if you own a bmw or audi just pull out the indicator fuse and keep that as a backup.

No one owns cars like that in the is industry unless they sell drugs.
