That old chestnut, "what saw?"

Bought a Stihl 362C a couple of years ago, and still pleased with it.

But I need another saw for the son in law to help me cut firewood.

I got the impression on here that the 362C was possibly not considered the wisest buy.

So for conifer like this?

If I was going for another petrol saw I'd be going 260 too. If I was replacing the 180 I'd go 36V battery*. Not sure I'd go mains powered, I'd worry about being tied up in cables

Money no object, I'd take a 400 over a 362 but that wouldn't mean you should throw the 362 away.

What other saws do you have? If you don't have a 261 then I'd agree it's the saw that gets used most often. Otherwise if you're ringing up lots of firewood that size or bigger then a 462 on 20" would be rapid.

I had had an 026 for many years(thinking from 1997) it finally gave up the ghost about 3 years ago, mid firewood prep activity, and when I called into the local dealer to buy another 260 replacement, because it was all the saw I ever needed, they had very little stock** and all they  could offer was a 362C, which I bought there and then (** it subsequently transpired they had run stocks down, because the owner was selling the business, so they are no longer even that local, gerrr!)

But anyway, probably petrol, even though the trees are only 1/4 mile from the house.

So prob back to  a 260 then.

I only cut them into 1050 mm lengths, then split to stack and season/dry, then run through a wee PTO cross cut saw into the shed

So not sawing into endless rings.

Cheers

Stihl MS 400 or Husqvarna 562xp . Take the rakers down a tad more if only cutting soft wood .
