Reminds me of my dad in the 70's and 80's.  

 

Numerous Maxwell House coffee jars, each with different types of screws, nuts, bolts, washers etc.  I used to think it was a bit excessive.

 

I am 47 this year, I now know where he was coming from.  :)

My grandad used to do the same, but screw the lids to the underside of shelves to save space. I'm not sure the lids of modern jars would take the weight of a whole jar of screws.

Yeah my dad did this in the 50s, dismantling radios and radar sets from WW2 aircraft, would have made more sense to have left them whole. I still have the ice trays full of them 😀
