2 hours? You can park right next to it!

What are you doing? Passing it through your digestive system ?

From arrival to departure, so not just the tree - get tools off, cup of tea, chat to customer, dismantle tree (mind phone lines), chat to neighbour and price up reducing his walnut, chip other stuff cut by customer, cut back pyracantha that now sticks out over path and looks stupid, rake up, sweep up, load up tools, blow driveway, depart.

This is the problem pricing small trees, the faffing before and after is about the same as a big tree.

I disagree, I keep a few small trees/jobs on the books as ‘end of day work’

Phone them up the night before ‘we’ll come and do you tree tomorrow at 3’

Go in all business like, bang it out, put the money in your wallet.

They are paying for the logistics of removing the arisings.

The van will either fit or it won't. I can cope with carrying my spikes, flipline, saw and wheeling the chipper that far.

Surely you know if it fits or not from when you did the trees on the right?

Maybe you're right there, we went first thing Thursday morning. Friday afternoon speed is an altogether different thing....

Reckon your initial post was spot on. £400 if it's local, £500 if its a bit of a drive or you don't care.

If they were getting other quotes they'd likely find someone cheaper, but at least that cheap person isn't you.

Will it not flop?

Just a bit too close to a phoneline and nicer to climb anyway. No holes poked in lawn, no muddy branches through the chipper. And my mate got to do some rigging, which was novel for him.
