So my brother has just sent me this, (he must of been idly google maps scrolling, obviously a busy day at work).

Cattle farming, Texas style. The scale and nature, (or lack of), of it is a bit obscene. It's vast. Those crop circles are weird too, due to centre pivot irrigation.

 

Anyone else seen interesting stuff somewhere?

The fallout from this form of intensive farming affects dairy and beef farming here as people erroneously attribute the same carbon and methane emissions to the, largely, grass fed cattle in UK when they try to persuade people to avoid beef and dairy products.

 

Not to mention Rishi wants us to have hormone fed beef.

Yep seen stuff like this before. All this talk about eating only grass fed beef and not from these farms is all well and good but the simple fact is there’s too many of us to feed. Farms like this are the only way

The issue is also about feeding cereals fit for human consumption to cattle

Maybe, but vast acreages in the US are used for the production of maize, purely to make the shitty ethanol that nobody wants in petrol. Apparently 40% of the entire maize production of the US is used in this way..

 

I think it is shameful when so many people are starving, more than shameful, obscene..

If they are drawing water from aquifers faster than they recharge it is not sustainable either.

I'm sure there was something last year in California banning new farms, as the water comes via that open air canal which supplies las Vegas.

It's not quite the only way. The other way is to not eat copious amounts of meat every day. The American diet is probably the worst in the world, from various perspectives.
