The trick to making money in this industry is working solo/with another lad and doing smaller and nicer jobs of your choice and reap the rewards. Finish early most days and don't get stressed.  Big jobs with big equipment is a mugs game.

how can it be a mugs game? What you mean is most people aren't intelligent enough to know how to build a good reputation, intangibles that build a moat around their business to help protect from competition. Members aspen, greygit, arbwork, et al they have far more gear than most. They aren't poor mugs

it seems to me you quoted my post without really thinking about what I wrote.

Clearly not every person who invests will make money, I mentioned a few members who do have a high investment, but are making money.

Shutler has bought himself a nice smallholding out of it, from what I've been reading. Some people just are good at retaining and gaining new customers - their reputation precedes them

It seems to me like you took my reply personally. Not my aim, but if you want to take offense that's your perogative.

 

I was merely suggesting that Shutlers OF paid for more of his new house than treework did.
