Van life… living the dream

Honestly you can’t beat it! off into the woods, or to the coast… reality:, three of us in an industrial unit for winter…

Recently I’m reading more and more about folk thinking of living in vans and trailers due to the cost of living, and how wonderful it would be to be free, if only it was that easy.

Any way, I only posted so I could force a picture of my new trailer in. Before anyone asks, that ducting is from a spray booth, not a grow.

That’s not living, that’s existing imo

fair play if you like it though

You’d be surprised how many vanlifers live like this in the winter, I’ve rented the whole unit until the end of March on the agreement I can sublet it. If I wanted to, which I don’t, I could get another 6-8 vans in here if I mentioned it on some vanlife pages I’d have it full this weekend due to the amount of people looking for somewhere to pull over winter.

There should be no need for it, but the tossers get involved. I’ve spoken with Jonathan Gullis MP, Stoke -on-Trent North about reopening an old council owned travellers camp for the winter months, it would be perfect, all the infrastructure is in place, being a redundant traveller site it is out of the way on the edge of a bypass so no neighbours, but as every time I’ve tried to get something organised it falls on deaf ears.

Tbh I diddnt realize vanlife included caravans, I thought it was more people converting regular panel vans to campers, maybe ready made ones like a transporter California at a push

or is “vanlifer” used as “traveler” is generally associated with pikeys?

not interested in buying your own plot of land as a base?

I have this new to me trailer that will go on a permanent pitch in April, I also have a camper that I mooch in, vanlife comes in many shapes and sizes.

The problem here in England is getting somewhere passed to live on very rarely gets passed planning.

And who’s is the van that looks like the gypo’s abandonded it?

Honestly, if criminals were housed this way they’d have a genuine human rights case on their hands. Perhaps the Boat People should be put up this way? That would soon stop them.

That reminds me of the conversation I had with my mum when Scottish Prisons banned slopping out because it was inhumane, I just wondered how much compensation I was due for all the caravan holidays as a kid...
