Unless they've completely changed the design, it had 4 rubber tubes jammed around a axle shaft in a square housing.

 

There maybe a technical name for Heath Robinson.

Think they always said under a certain speed or just moveable. That might have improved since I got mine 10 years ago, it's cheap and cheerful 😀

 

Probably also why it's not supplied with lights etc

That's what I thought . Its why I fitted indespension units to mine with adjustable wheel bearings like a car . certainly would not run at 70 mph with it though in the interest of stability !

I have the exact same machine. Can't fault it for value and ability. Not found anything it won't split yet, and done some big bits. I have towed it on the road to 1O miles away, but if I was to do it again/go further I would put it on a trailer. I have found Rock Machinery to be good to deal with.

It is road legal with suspension. The others aren't. I've towed it 200 miles this week mainly just out of testing it and yes, it is a bit bouncing/noisy but the work I want to gain from it, there is no reason to go more than 20-40 miles for it which is mainly back roads for me. 
 

70mph was a test, it handled fine but that was a smooth straight road. I wouldn't do it again.

I have a generic 22t splitter I lend out to clients and tow behind the car.

I do worry about the bearings but keep to under 70kph

The local engineering shop could sort that out for me.

i have a large log splitter with apparently road tow ok,  wouldnt tow it anywhere as its just too bouncy and slow

 

for all time it takes me to winch with small atv winch onto or off a trailer and tie down with easy mod to trailer from engineering place its proper daft to not do it 

 

if you have a trailer it can fit on and want to do distance well worth it, can post some pics if folks want

This Rock Machinery one is actually not that bad tbh but post some photos anyway. I have no other trailer that is big enough to throw it in. Maybe if things take off I will.
