Sailor a decent alarm clock atm, derivative to the alarm clocks of the dog walkers going past the house. A lot of newcomers to the village in a new estate over the road. I feel a bit bad him harassing them at the fence but it’s better he conveys a firm (if slightly annoying) message than someone tries to burgle the place.

Morning all,

Rain here for the day. Fine by me, 3 days back in and achey and tired, largely due to lingering virus no doubt picked up in airport/plane. A day to do some office work, drink coffee, and maybe later try to diagnose petrol leak on Countax mower. I would guess at the carb float chamber/needle valve.

Lad off today, so that means I am.
Had a stroke of good luck (I think) this week.
I have had an ever growing pile of waste wood, the size of a minor royal residence in my field since the crackdown on burning.
Mostly oversize conifers, willow, poplar, you know the score.
It’s been a constant niggling issue, I’m close to retirement and we will sell this place and it’ll be a bit of a minus to the sale to see this in the grounds.
So knock at the door, young man (35ish) covered in wood dust.
He’s one of the guys who I’ve been seeing around with the mahoosive chippers turning the local forests into biomass.
He’s heard about my pile of wood, and not only will he come along and chip it, he’ll pay me €20 a tonne for it!

He will not manage to get the oldest stuff I imagine as it’s pre-avant loader so smaller pieces, not grabable by his machines.
But he’s going to make a big hole in it.
Plus he says he’ll come yearly if I can get enough piled up.
Happy days!
