Cutting rounds for firewood company

I'm cutting firewood for a company. Tarmac on the ground and it's annoying hitting it 1-2 times a day etc and don't like cutting off fork lift tynes.

I was thinking of setting 3 oversize logs going straight forward as a sort of work bench and laying the timber lengths the opposite way and cutting it that way. Has anybody else got any better ideas? Photos appreciated.

I'm 6'7 so anything quick and easy that will stop me from stooping all day.

Also, how much in tonneage do you normally cut in an hr day on the saw? I did 20 ton or so within about 6 hours and wondering if I should be doing more. The guy is happy enough with it but can always try for more.

Cutting with 572/585 20/28 inch bar.

Think the boy I cut for would have a heart attack at making something like that. Tight arse

@Mark Bolam

what were you charging a day for cutting it? That looks handy that

That was for a good mate we do quite a bit of stuff for.

He supplied digger and operator, and the timber was in decent stacks.

He also covered our fuel.

Macca and me charged him £200 each for a leisurely day, but got through some timber.

Tonnage wise I wouldn’t like to guess, but wouldn’t have been anywhere near 20 tonnes each!

Definitely gave our backs a day off though.

Depends on what time you have then, a simple saw horse, X supports made from pallet and the supports spaced the correct distance apart for each cut along the log. Put log on, just move along it cutting - better then a log table I think where you'll get enough over the end to cut 1 log else it tips off the edge.

Supports don't have to be X shaped, half pallet stood upright with the top half of the middle stringers taken out as an H will work too
