Repairing hole in 560 oil tank.

A chain snapped on my 560 punching a little hole in the oil tank (pictured)

What is the best product to effect a repair and any tips on usage?

we used some two part putty stuff, just cleaned it all up and scratched the paint off, our crack was on the front though. it has worked for a while now. i think it may have been made by evostick.

I bought some 2npart epoxy not so long since... would need to see what the code was for the epoxy. You'd have to clean the heck out of it, blow it off, maybe clean with thinners prior to applying.... being ally it might be even better to scratch the casing around it some with a Stanley blade to help it key

yes we scratched it up a bit first. my mate also made a little stub on the back of a pole set hook for putting up a rope, it looked like it would never stay on but its still there, so its tough stuff.

I fixed a leaky drain plug in a Greenmech hydraulic oil tank with some grey stuff that I mixed up.

Worked a treat.

Not going to lose a grands worth of saw over this!

Repaired a hole in echo with plastic tank in very simple place, I used 2 part epoxy by evo stick. Pushed through hole into tank and formed a mushroom head and the same out side so it was like a rivet.

It's only a little hole in the oil tank pal. 😐 something of bugger all and not worth all the hassle of crank case etc

Try the repair, worst outcome is a bit of oil leak again.

 

I've got some "Petro patch putty" on my Spitfire radiator that I stuck on in about 1995 halfway down France , has maybe started to leak a bit now but I would recommend it as easy to use and strong. It's reinforced epoxy so will bridge the hole and designed for fuel and oil leaks.

 

As above I'd rub/wire brush the outside so you're not just sticking it to paint.
