I’ve been out with the boss man today, I usually pair up with his son if it’s a two man job, he’s sound. Anyway, when I started with this bloke it was because I know pumps, that was November 2021, today he’s telling me where I’m going wrong about replacing some valves. It boils my piss, perhaps it’s just me? I’m sure we can all think of better/easier ways of doing the job, but he knows nothing about pumping stations, that’s why I work for him. Rant over. Can you tell he’s wound me up?

You work for him.
That’s the key.

He who pays the piper calls the tune.

Yes of course, but when I tell him he needs a tanker and he insists he doesn’t, then he finds out we do it pisses me off, I’m there to earn me and him money, not to be told about a job I’ve done for many years. You are tight though. Remember  the golden rule, he who has the gold makes the rules. He’ll loose two experienced subbies before long if he isn’t careful. It swings both ways.

We have decided “Life would be easy if it wasn’t for other people” soon as someone else sticks there nose in the job goes wrong!

I’m beginning to think you are right, if he won’t take my word he can shove it. I’m there to help him, not to be told what I’m doing. All he needs to do is give me the job and I’ll sort it. I’ve had a ring around this morning and got another start, and speaking to his other subbie he’s coming with me. I just don’t get why he would employ two blokes to do a job he doesn’t know then not listen to them.

And thats the beauty of being a subby!

It is, the work is handy though, little travelling because it’s a franchise and they can’t go out of their territory, he’s just pissed me off. He text me earlier asking me to call him. When I’m off my high horse I’ll see how I feel.
