Is yours a 550XP?

 

 

If so, then the obvious answer is to give him that, and buy yourself a 550XPG (heated heandles)

Yes it is an XP, few years old now. Heard recently that the newer versions are proving troublesome???

I thought it was the other way round . The Mk2 being a much better saw ..

Think the MK2 is a little heavier, I am sure it has a bit more power.

Think you heard wrong. Had the 550 mkii about three years now and it’s bomber. Early 5 series saws were temperamental, with this they ironed out all those quirks. My 2011 560 was awful.

Odd innit ? my 2011 560 is still going strong . Tweaked by petemate on here though .

Anecdotally, seems to be more warranty claims on them than would be ideal.

 

After all, what's still being made as well as it used to be!
