found this interesting interview mate .. wish I’d stayed on the tree house and discussed, I don’t think I ever put the two people together though.

Holds more chip in the kerf.

 

I learned it in the states, it makes a noticable difference on softwood.

 Think he is " square " filing a square ground full chisel  chain . You attack it from the outside as opposed to from the inside as you do with a round ground full chisel chain .
