Clever or not?

Planting a few bits and pieces. No real idea what I’m doing. Thought this floppy thing looked like it needed keeping upright. Pulled a silky out of my back pocket and this happened. Good idea? Bad idea? Doesn’t matter much?

No, it’s not. If it’s going to rub the bark off or something, I can go back out with a bit of string.

And I would cut the split bit bit back to the new growth . If needs be push a bean cane in to support it till it fattens out .

The split is in the cane. The planted plant is fine.

I thought it was all one piece too, i.e. it looks like the split stem is gripping its own side shoot which I thought was a bit nifty.

Needs a bigger area cleared round the base in the turf imo

 

But if its one of thoose invasive  cotonaster sp it can spread all over theres acres of the stuff got out in the wild now....
