Some years back, a distant neighbor caught the Google street view van on his private road. Clearly signposted as such. He gave the driver/operator a bollocking and turned him around.

Fair play giving him directions - may have been an innocent mistake, but turning him around is a bit harsh! Unless he invited it?

Dunno. I suppose he invited it by driving up a signposted "residents only" private road.. I wouldn't want Google earth driving up my private road either, truth be told.

Had exactly the same.
Found google on the farm drive where we live. Mrs told him to turn back which he did.

It is clearly signed as private and is a track. Although all the satnav's see it as a shortcut, hence signage.

6 months later found the pictures of my yard and setup all loaded on google. Upset!
You can complain which I did. It took another 6 months to get them removed.  All a bit of a nutache.

At one time (it still may be the case) my bum featured on Google Street view. I happened to be working under the bonnet of my Defender, bum sticking out towards the road, when the camera car came round. They fuzzed out the number plate (eventually and at my insistence) but not my posterior.
