This was a typical, and what I assumed was an underweight load of ash chip, just me in the van and no tools. Came in at 4,220kg

2017 transit MWB tipper single cab, ply and steel frame 'arb back'

The older transit  (2008) we had with a similar size load from same job was 3,660kg

With the up to 30% overweight just being a fine which I'd be happy to pay, is the 30% calculated on pay load or on the 3.5t weight? As in could you weigh 4,550kg before risking court/points? Guessing its payload 😞

So you were 720kg overweight? How high was the chip stacked? What sort of fine you talking for this- 3 points and £100?

I found my old paper licence which clearly shows C1E up to 12000kg.

I only ever did the car test.

It was taken off you back in 97.

Every licence holder got a letter plus it was all over the tv too.

If you wanted to keep the full fat version you had to claim it with evidence that you had been using it. If I remember right you had a year to make the claim.

Just keeping the old paper licence did not let you keep the 12000kg allowance.

To be fair, not the picture I weighed on, id say 20% more when i got weighed but it definitely isn't what i call a proper load

Goes to show how little the new transits can take once you add a couple of tool boxes and an arb back

Does anyone know if having a trailer weighs the van down more? Guessing only by 50kg or so

My DC Tranny goes 2850 on the bridge with 2 of us, tools and dog in the cab.

Leaves a payload of 650.

It’s f-all really.

2.4m3 bed space without sides (which I have), and fresh conny chip going about 300kg/m3, if I’m level, I’m loaded.

Then reality kicks in…..

I just pop another Stella for every additional 50kg.
